Atalanta manager Ivan Juric expressed mixed feelings following his team`s 1-1 draw with Juventus in Serie A. While pleased with aspects of the performance, he felt they missed opportunities to secure a win.
Juric noted, “We started slowly but grew into the game. After taking the lead, we had chances to extend our advantage. Unfortunately, we conceded due to an error. Overall, I`m satisfied with the team`s spirit and performance, especially from our younger players.”
The manager highlighted the contributions of Honest Ahanor, praising the young player`s eagerness to learn and improve. Despite missing several key players through injury, Atalanta managed to maintain their unbeaten away record against Juventus, stretching back to 2018.
Juric also discussed Kamaldeen Sulemana, who scored Atalanta`s goal. “I discovered Sulemana at Southampton when he was barely in the squad. He has great potential but needs to work on his decision-making. His defensive work rate is impressive – you can rely on him to put in the effort when needed.”
Reflecting on his own coaching journey, Juric acknowledged the challenges he faced last season but believes those experiences have made him a stronger manager. “I`ve had successful years previously. Last season was difficult results-wise, but the experiences in the Premier League and with Roma were valuable learning opportunities,” he concluded.
