Juventus has officially announced the acquisition of Joao Mario from FC Porto for a total fee of €12.6 million. The transfer, finalized today, includes €11.4 million for the player plus €1.2 million in additional costs.
Following successful medical examinations, the 25-year-old right-back has signed a long-term contract with Juventus, committing to the club until June 2030. The transfer fee will be paid over the course of four financial years.
Joao Mario, a product of FC Porto`s youth academy, made significant contributions to the senior squad last season, appearing in 42 competitive matches and providing seven assists. His versatility allows him to play in advanced midfield positions and as part of an attacking trident when needed.
This transfer is part of a larger deal that sees Alberto Costa moving to FC Porto in a separate €16 million transfer. Notably, Juventus has made a profit on Costa, who was acquired from Vitoria Guimaraes for €12.5 million just this past January.
The addition of Joao Mario strengthens Juventus`s defensive options and provides the team with a young, talented player capable of contributing in multiple positions on the field. As the Italian giants continue to bolster their squad, this move represents another strategic acquisition in their pursuit of domestic and European success.
