Juventus experienced their most significant home defeat since 1967, succumbing to a humiliating 4-0 thrashing by Atalanta in Serie A on Sunday evening. This result could have significant repercussions for Thiago Motta and his team.
Let’s examine the key facts and figures surrounding Juventus’ dismal performance at the Allianz Stadium.
Juventus Suffer Worst Home Loss Since 1967
A 4-0 home defeat for Juventus is unprecedented since the 1967-68 season. The last instance of such a heavy home loss was 58 years prior, a 4-0 defeat against Torino on October 22, 1967.
This marks only the fourth occasion in Juventus’ history that they have conceded four goals at home. Other instances include 0-4 losses to Fiorentina in October 1955 and Pro Patria in July 1948.

On only four prior occasions have Juventus conceded more than four goals at their home ground. These were 2-6 defeats against Vicenza and Triestina in 1943 and 1940 respectively, and 1-7 defeats by Milan and Pro Vercelli in 1950 and 1922 respectively.
This 0-4 defeat to Atalanta is Juventus’ most severe loss in any competition since their 5-1 defeat against Napoli at the Stadio Maradona during their title-winning campaign in 2022-23.
In the 21st century, Juventus has only suffered three defeats by a margin of four goals, whether at home or away. These include the recent match against Atalanta, the 2023 defeat to Napoli, and a 4-0 loss to Roma in the 2003-04 Serie A season.
