Italian media outlets report that Juventus is exploring the possibility of offering a coaching role to their former defender and captain, Leonardo Bonucci. This development follows a meeting between Bonucci and his long-time friend and teammate Giorgio Chiellini, who is also being considered for a new position at the Allianz Stadium.
Potential Coaching Comeback for Bonucci and New Role for Chiellini
According to Tuttosport and Calciomercato.com, Juventus is contemplating appointing Bonucci to a coaching position within the club. This could involve working with the youth teams or potentially even the first team, depending on who becomes the next permanent head coach.
The possibility of Bonucci`s return to Juventus was reportedly discussed during a dinner meeting in Rome earlier this week. The gathering included Bonucci, Chiellini, and Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
Tuttosport suggests that the likelihood of Bonucci taking on a coaching role at Continassa is increasing. Since retiring from professional football at the end of the 2023-24 season, Bonucci has been pursuing various coaching qualifications. He currently serves as the assistant coach for Italy`s Under-20 team under Bernardo Corrardi, a position he has held since October.
As for Chiellini, he is also expected to assume a new role within the Bianconeri organization. Following the reported resignation of director Francesco Calvo, who is set to become CEO of Premier League club Aston Villa, Chiellini may take over some of Calvo`s responsibilities with FIGC and ECA. It is believed that Chiellini, who recently returned to the club as Head of Football Institutional Relations, will be offered a new position with an updated title in the near future.
