Juventus Overcome Lecce 2-1 with Koopmeiners Back to His Best
Juventus returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Lecce, as Dusan Vlahovic provided assists for well-worked goals by Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz.
The Bianconeri took an early lead after just 100 seconds when Koopmeiners latched onto Vlahovic’s perfectly weighted through ball and drilled a left-footed shot into the net from a tight angle. It was an ideal way for the Dutchman to mark his return to the starting lineup.
Lecce responded quickly as Nikola Krstovic’s long-range effort struck the post. Juventus doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute through a superb team move, as Khephren Thuram combined with Yildiz before Vlahovic teed up the Turkish youngster to sweep home from the edge of the box.
The hosts controlled proceedings but Lecce threatened a comeback late on when Federico Baschirotto headed in from Thorir Helgason’s free-kick in the 87th minute. However, Juventus held on to secure an important three points.
The win sees Juventus get back on track after a draw against Roma, while ending Lecce’s mini-revival following their draw with Venezia last time out. Koopmeiners’ impressive performance on his return to the side was a major positive for Massimiliano Allegri’s team.
