Juventus Stands Firm on Douglas Luiz Amidst Transfer Rumors
Juventus has not wavered in its stance regarding Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian midfielder, who was one of the most expensive acquisitions in the Bianconeri’s summer transfer window, arrived as part of a complex deal with Aston Villa that temporarily sent Iling Jr and Barrenechea to England. The final valuation of 50 million euros has been deemed excessive given his performance so far this season.
Despite numerous transfer rumors circulating in recent weeks, including speculation about a return to England, Juventus remains committed to Luiz. The club recognizes that achieving a valuation similar to last summer’s is unlikely in the current market. Rather than devaluing the player and searching for a replacement, Juventus has decided to continue investing in Luiz’s development.
Cristiano Giuntoli’s transfer budget will primarily be allocated to securing at least one defensive signing to replace the injured Bremer and Cabal, both of whom are recovering from cruciate ligament surgeries. If additional funds become available, the club may consider strengthening the forward line. Any midfield reinforcements will likely be postponed until next summer.
