Juventus Transfer Window: Defensive Reinforcements and Post-Vlahovic Planning
Juventus emerged as one of Serie A’s top spenders in the January 2025 transfer window, bringing in four new players to bolster their squad. The club’s most notable acquisition was PSG loanee Randal Kolo Muani, who has already made an impact with three goals in his first two appearances.
The Bianconeri invested €25.2 million in new signings, including permanent transfers for Alberto Costa from Vitoria Guimaraes and Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle (initially on loan with an obligation to buy). Kolo Muani and Renato Veiga joined on loan deals until the end of the season.
Kolo Muani’s arrival has immediately impacted the team’s lineup, with the French striker displacing Dusan Vlahovic from the starting eleven. Juventus appears to be preparing for life after Vlahovic, as they were open to offers for the Serbian forward in January and will likely entertain bids again in the summer when he enters the final year of his contract.
The club is exploring options to retain Kolo Muani beyond his loan spell, while also considering Napoli’s Victor Osimhen as a potential long-term striking option. Though Kolo Muani and Vlahovic featured together in a recent 4-1 victory over Empoli, it seems Juventus is planning for a future that may not include the Serbian star.
Juventus’ other January signings focused on strengthening their defense, addressing injuries to key players like Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal. The departure of Danilo to Flamengo and an injury to Pierre Kalulu further necessitated defensive reinforcements, leading to the acquisitions of Costa, Veiga, and Kelly.
In an outgoing move, Nicolò Fagioli was loaned to Fiorentina with an obligation to buy, as Juventus continues to reshape their squad for both immediate success and future stability.
