Moise Kean expressed his enthusiasm for Italy`s convincing 5-0 win against Estonia, highlighting the enjoyment of playing in Gennaro Gattuso`s attack-oriented system alongside Mateo Retegui.
Gattuso`s decision to start both Kean and Retegui, along with Mattia Zaccagni and Matteo Politano in a 4-2-3-1 formation, proved highly effective. Kean opened the scoring, followed by a brace from Retegui, and goals from Giacomo Raspadori and Alessandro Bastoni.
“We had a great time out there. That`s what football should be about – enjoying the game,” Kean told reporters. “Mateo and I work well together. He`s an excellent striker, and today we showed we can be an effective partnership. We hope to score many more goals as a duo.”
Kean also commented on Gattuso`s intense coaching style: “He motivates us intensely, which is exactly what we needed. His determination and passion can only benefit the team. The coach demands a lot from us, but it`s pushing us to improve.”
Looking ahead, Italy faces a crucial World Cup qualifier against Israel in Debrecen, Hungary. Israel currently sits second in Group I behind Norway, making this match particularly significant for Italy`s qualification campaign.
As Italy adapts to Gattuso`s more aggressive tactical approach, the partnership between Kean and Retegui could become a key factor in the team`s offensive strategy moving forward.
