Celta defeated Osasuna 1-0, and Sevilla-Mallorca ended in a 1-1 draw. In the fight against relegation, Espanyol made a statement by defeating Alavés 0-1.

League Standings

Barcelona leads the league with 54 points – Real Madrid is co-leader – while Valladolid is at the bottom with 15 points. The top four, in order, are Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, and Athletic Club; these teams would qualify for the Champions League. Villarreal, Rayo Vallecano, and Betis occupy fifth, sixth, and seventh place respectively. In the relegation zone are Valencia, Alavés, and Valladolid.
