LaLiga Files Complaint Against Barcelona Over Suspicious VIP Box Sale

LaLiga has taken action against FC Barcelona by filing a complaint with the Spanish Sports Council (CSD) regarding alleged suspicious connections in the club’s sale of VIP boxes at the future Spotify Camp Nou. This sale allowed Barcelona to register new players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, as well as return to the 1:1 financial rule.

The Spanish football governing body claims that Barcelona received €28 million from Emirates New Era Visionary, a company that has been the club’s telecommunications provider since November 2024. LaLiga views this as a potential conflict of interest that could distort fair competition among clubs.

Barcelona had previously refused to disclose the names of the companies that purchased the VIP boxes, citing confidentiality reasons. However, LaLiga obtained this information through the CSD, enabling them to present their allegations.

In its complaint, LaLiga draws parallels between this situation and Barcelona’s previous dealings with Barça Vision, where the club allegedly overvalued the asset, resulting in expected payments not materializing. The identity of the other investor in the VIP box deal remains unknown.

This latest development marks an escalation in the ongoing institutional conflict between LaLiga and Barcelona. The sports community now awaits the CSD’s decision on these allegations, which could have significant implications for the club and the league.
