Las Palmas Captain Rodriguez Faces Cancer Recurrence
Las Palmas midfielder Kirian Rodriguez has revealed that he has been diagnosed with a recurrence of cancer. The 28-year-old Spanish player shared the news through the club’s press service, stating, “Yesterday, I was informed that my cancer has returned. I will need to take another break and undergo another course of chemotherapy to fight the disease.”
Rodriguez was initially diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a malignant disease of the lymphatic system, in August 2022. In January of the following year, the footballer announced that he had overcome the illness and returned to the field.
During the current season, Rodriguez, who serves as the captain of Las Palmas, has participated in 22 matches across all competitions, contributing three assists to his team’s performance.
This news comes as a setback for both Rodriguez and his team, as he had been actively playing and contributing to Las Palmas’ campaign. The football community will undoubtedly rally around the player as he faces this challenging period in his life and career.
