Lazio’s Castellanos Exits Match Early Due to Muscle Problem
Lazio suffered a setback in their Serie A clash with Napoli when striker Taty Castellanos was forced to leave the pitch after only 25 minutes due to an apparent muscle injury. The Argentinian forward suddenly went down clutching his inner thigh, indicating a potential adductor issue.
Not wanting to risk further damage, Castellanos immediately limped off the field and headed straight to the locker room at Stadio Olimpico. This left Lazio temporarily down to 10 men until substitute Tijjani Noslin could be readied to enter the match.
The injury to Castellanos is concerning for Lazio, as he has been their top scorer this season with 12 goals and 8 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions. The club now awaits test results to determine the severity of the injury and whether Castellanos will be available for upcoming fixtures against Venezia and the first leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal versus Inter on February 25th.
Lazio were already shorthanded for the Napoli match, missing players like Matias Vecino, Elseid Hysaj and Patric. The loss of Castellanos further depletes their attacking options, with Boulaye Dia also not fully fit due to an ankle problem.
The club will be hoping for positive news regarding their star striker as they look to maintain their push for European qualification in Serie A and advance in the Coppa Italia. Castellanos’ goalscoring prowess and creativity have been crucial for Lazio this season, making his potential absence a significant blow to the team’s aspirations.
