Italian Serie A club Lecce is reportedly close to finalizing a deal for promising young Chilean right-back Matias Perez from Curicó Unido. The transfer fee is expected to be around €500,000.
Multiple reliable sources in Italian media have confirmed that negotiations are in the advanced stages. Perez, who turned 20 in April, is already a regular member of Chile`s Under-20 national team.
The young defender came up through Curicó Unido`s youth system before being promoted to the senior squad in January 2024. Despite his young age, Perez has already made 17 appearances in Chile`s second division.
Lecce and their sporting director Pantaleo Corvino have built a strong reputation for identifying and developing young talent. The club has a history of signing promising players and later selling them on for significant profits. Perez could be the latest addition to this successful model.
This move continues Lecce`s focus on youth, as they recently secured 17-year-old striker Francesco Camarda on loan from AC Milan. The club hopes to provide these young talents with valuable first-team experience in Serie A.
