Leicester City Receives Substantial Bid for Young Player as Transfer Window Closes
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City has fielded transfer offers surpassing £4 million for one of their players as the transfer deadline looms. This development comes amid a relatively quiet January transfer window for the Foxes, who have made only one signing so far in Woyo Coulibaly.
The recent sale of Tom Cannon to Sheffield United for a significant sum may now enable the Premier League club to be more active in the transfer market. Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has indicated that the club is exploring options to strengthen the squad within their current financial constraints.
Reports suggest that Leicester has inquired about signing Strahinja Pavlovic from AC Milan. The tall defender has struggled to make an impact since joining Milan last summer, but van Nistelrooy hopes his potential arrival could address Leicester’s defensive weaknesses.
While incoming transfers are a priority, there may also be another departure on the horizon. Romano reports that Bundesliga side Hoffenheim has made multiple offers for Leicester’s Luke Thomas, with bids around €5 million (£4.2m). However, Leicester has not yet been persuaded to sell the 23-year-old defender.
Thomas, an academy product, has made 90 appearances for Leicester’s first team but has seen limited action this season under van Nistelrooy. With his contract set to expire in 2026, a move this month could benefit all parties involved.
Despite showing promise in previous seasons and earning praise from former manager Brendan Rodgers, Thomas has struggled to maintain his place in the team. A potential transfer to Hoffenheim could provide him with a fresh opportunity to showcase his talents and continue his development.
