Lens Bolsters Defense with Acquisition of Young Bosnian Talent Nidal Celik
RC Lens has reinforced its defensive lineup by securing the services of 18-year-old center-back Nidal Celik from FK Sarajevo. Despite his youth, Celik had already established himself as the captain of his former club, demonstrating leadership qualities beyond his years.
The French club was in need of defensive reinforcements following the departures of Abdukodir Khusanov to Manchester City and Kevin Danso to Tottenham Hotspur during the winter transfer window. Celik’s arrival helps fill the void left by these significant moves.
The young Bosnian defender has committed to a four-and-a-half-year contract with Lens and will don the number 4 jersey. He could potentially make his debut for the club in their upcoming away match against Nice.
Lens CEO Pierre Dreossi expressed his enthusiasm for the signing, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Nidal to Racing Club Lens. Despite being only 18, he brings valuable high-level experience, having progressed through Bosnia’s youth teams before receiving a call-up to the senior national team last November.”
This acquisition demonstrates Lens’ commitment to investing in young talent while addressing their immediate defensive needs. Celik’s addition to the squad under manager Will Still’s guidance could prove to be a strategic move for the club’s future.
