Lille Winger Edon Zhegrova Faces Extended Injury Layoff
Edon Zhegrova, the 25-year-old winger for Lille, is expected to be out of action for approximately six weeks due to a pubis injury. This news comes as a setback for the French club, which had previously convinced Zhegrova to stay despite his reported desire to leave during the summer transfer window.
The Kosovo international has been a crucial player for Lille this season, appearing in 12 Ligue 1 matches and contributing four goals and one assist. His impact was particularly notable in the UEFA Champions League qualification stage, where he scored three goals in four matches, helping Lille secure a spot in the group stage.
Zhegrova’s last appearance for Lille was in mid-December during a 1-1 draw against Olympique de Marseille. In that match, manager Bruno Génésio substituted him at halftime.
Prior to his injury, Lille had reportedly set an asking price of €25 million for Zhegrova, whose contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026. There had been speculation about potential interest from Napoli, who were considering him as a possible replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, following the latter’s reported €70 million transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
This injury layoff is likely to impact Lille’s performance in the coming weeks, as they lose a key offensive player during a crucial part of the season.
