Liverpool Consider £125m Move for Prolific Striker Over Isak

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to trigger a £125 million release clause to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez this summer, potentially bypassing a move for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

The Reds are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season under new manager Arne Slot. While there has been interest in Isak, valued at up to £160m by Newcastle, Liverpool appear to be turning their attention to Alvarez.

According to reports from Spain, Liverpool are planning a £250 million spending spree on three key targets – Alvarez, PSV midfielder Xavi Simons, and Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni. Of the trio, Alvarez would be the most expensive at £125m to activate his release clause.

The 25-year-old Argentine has impressed in his debut season for Atletico, scoring 23 goals and providing 5 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions. His versatility to play multiple attacking positions is said to appeal to Slot’s tactical plans.

Alvarez only joined Atletico last summer from Manchester City, but could now be set for a swift return to England. He has 124 career goals to his name already across spells with River Plate, City and Atletico.

While Isak remains on Liverpool’s radar, this latest update suggests Alvarez has emerged as their priority attacking target as they look to strengthen their forward line this summer.
