Liverpool Consider January Swoop for Out-of-Favor PSG Striker
Liverpool are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing French international striker Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window. The 26-year-old has struggled for playing time since his big-money move to PSG last summer and could be available on loan.
According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Kolo Muani is “set to leave” PSG in January after falling out of favor under manager Luis Enrique. The striker has made just two league starts this season despite arriving for over £75 million from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023.
Plettenberg claims there is a “strong chance” Kolo Muani will move to the Premier League, with Liverpool among the clubs showing interest. The Reds have “gathered information” on the player, though talks are still at an early stage. Manchester United, Tottenham and RB Leipzig are also monitoring the situation.
While Kolo Muani has struggled at club level recently, he remains a regular for the French national team. Manager Didier Deschamps has praised the striker’s “interesting” and “radiant” profile, highlighting his aerial ability and confident dribbling.
Any move for Kolo Muani would likely be on an initial loan deal. The striker will be keen to secure regular playing time ahead of Euro 2024, where he hopes to feature prominently for France. For Liverpool, he could provide another attacking option as they challenge on multiple fronts in the second half of the season.
With the January window approaching, Liverpool appear to be exploring their options to strengthen the squad. The potential availability of a French international striker on loan presents an intriguing opportunity for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
