Liverpool Considering Bowen as Potential Salah Replacement
According to former scout Mick Brown, Liverpool are exploring the possibility of signing West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah. This comes amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding Salah’s future at Anfield.
Salah’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and despite manager Arne Slot expressing his desire for the Egyptian to stay, no new deal has been agreed upon. This has led Liverpool to consider contingency plans in case Salah departs.
In an interview with Football Insider, Brown commented on Bowen’s impressive performances for West Ham, stating: “Bowen could excel at any top club in the country. Liverpool have been monitoring him due to the Salah situation. He could be the ideal replacement.”
Brown added that Liverpool may attempt to lure Bowen away from West Ham in the summer transfer window, despite the player’s current contentment at the London club.
While Bowen has been in fine form this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists in the Premier League, replacing Salah would be a monumental task. The Egyptian has been instrumental to Liverpool’s success, contributing 21 goals and 13 assists in the league this term.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher ranks Salah among the top five players in the club’s history, emphasizing the importance of retaining his services. Though Bowen is undoubtedly a talented player, described as “sensational” by some pundits, he would likely be viewed as an addition to the squad rather than a direct replacement for Salah.
As the transfer speculation continues, Liverpool’s priority remains securing Salah’s long-term future at the club. However, the interest in Bowen suggests the Reds are preparing for all eventualities as they look to maintain their competitive edge in the Premier League.
