Liverpool targeting promising defender to fill Alexander-Arnold’s shoes
Liverpool are reportedly working on signing Freiburg right-back Kiliann Sildillia as they prepare for the potential departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer. The 22-year-old French defender has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs with his performances in the Bundesliga.
Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, with rumors linking him to a free transfer to Real Madrid when his contract expires. While unconfirmed, his exit seems increasingly likely as negotiations have stalled.
Sildillia has impressed as an athletic, attack-minded full-back who can also play center-back when needed. Liverpool have already scouted the France U21 international, though no formal offer has been made yet.
Compared to another Liverpool target Jeremie Frimpong, Sildillia appears to be the superior option. While registering fewer goal contributions, he has completed more take-ons and outperformed Frimpong defensively with more tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes.
Sildillia’s well-rounded skillset makes him an ideal fit for Liverpool’s system. At just 22, he also offers long-term potential to make the right-back position his own for years to come.
With multiple clubs interested, Liverpool will need to act quickly to secure Sildillia’s signature. His combination of attacking threat and defensive solidity could make him the perfect successor to fill the void if Alexander-Arnold departs this summer.
