Locatelli: “Tudor Encouraged Us to Have Faith in Our Abilities”
Manuel Locatelli shared insights into Igor Tudor’s approach to rejuvenating Juventus following their recent managerial change. The midfielder also explained the significance behind his goal celebration in the 1-1 draw against Roma.
Locatelli opened the scoring at the Stadio Olimpico with an impressive volley from outside the box, capitalizing on a weak clearance by Zeki Celik. However, Roma equalized shortly after halftime through substitute Eldor Shomurodov, who converted a rebound from Evan N’Dicka’s headed effort.
After scoring, Locatelli pointed to the Juventus badge on his shirt and made a ‘T’ gesture with his hand, a reference to his wife Thessa.
“Wearing the captain’s armband is a great honor,” the Italian international told DAZN. “We delivered a solid performance tonight, though we were aiming for all three points.”
Locatelli Thrives Under New Coach Tudor
Juventus displayed a more aggressive style from the start, dominating possession in the opening 15 minutes. Unlike the often static approach under previous manager Thiago Motta, Juve showed greater intensity and forward-thinking play under Tudor.
When asked about Tudor’s impact after just two matches in charge, Locatelli explained, “Upon his arrival, the coach immediately asked us to be more aggressive. He encouraged us to believe in ourselves, emphasizing that we are capable of performances like this. Roma deserves credit for their comeback, and we tired as the second half progressed. However, by maintaining this style of play, we can achieve significant results.”
