Loïs Diony Departs Angers on Loan, Contract Termination Imminent
Striker Loïs Diony, 32, has temporarily left Angers SCO on a loan deal, with his contract likely to be terminated in the near future. Despite being the club’s top scorer in Ligue 2 last season with 15 goals, Diony has found himself on the periphery of the squad this season.
Following a lackluster substitute appearance against RC Lens at the start of the season, Diony was relegated to training with the reserve team. This coincided with his pursuit of an improved contract, during which he declined opportunities to join FC Metz and Schalke. Since the Lens match, he has not been included in any matchday squads.
Adding to his troubles, Diony is currently under investigation by the LFP for allegedly betting on his own team during a match against Paris FC last season. He has now joined Bandirmaspor in the Turkish second division on a short-term loan. However, his contract with Angers, originally set to run until 2026, is expected to be terminated, meaning he will not return to the club after the loan period ends.
