Luis Enrique Compares PSG’s Hectic Schedule to Tetris
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has drawn an interesting parallel between the club’s busy schedule and the popular puzzle game Tetris. Speaking at a press conference ahead of PSG’s match against AS Monaco, Enrique highlighted the complexities of managing a team competing across multiple fronts.
“It’s very much like playing Tetris,” Enrique remarked. “We can make plans, but then suddenly you have two players fall ill, another gets suspended, and so on. You need to stay flexible and adapt quickly.”
The Spanish coach emphasized the importance of actual match play in maintaining the team’s fitness levels. “Competition is the best way to stay in shape – it’s the primary stimulus,” he explained. “Beyond that, our training sessions are fairly standard, as there’s limited time for much else.”
PSG’s schedule has been particularly demanding since the winter break, with the team still active in Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and preparing for crucial Champions League knockout matches against Stade Brestois. This congestion of fixtures presents a unique challenge for Enrique and his staff in terms of player rotation and management.
As PSG prepares to face AS Monaco at the Parc des Princes, coming off a midweek Coupe de France victory against Le Mans, Enrique’s Tetris-like approach to squad management will be put to the test once again.
