Lunev Reflects on Memorable Bayer Leverkusen Matches in 2024
Russian goalkeeper Andrey Lunev has revealed that the Europa League matches against German club Bayer Leverkusen were the most memorable events of 2024 for him.
“The past year was quite productive and normal,” Lunev told TASS. “The most memorable events in 2024 were probably the games in the Europa League. To be specific, the matches against Bayer Leverkusen were definitely the highlight.”
In the Europa League Round of 16, Lunev’s team Qarabag was eliminated by Bayer Leverkusen on aggregate. The first leg in March ended in a 2-2 draw, while the return match resulted in a 3-2 defeat.
In July 2024, the 33-year-old Lunev transferred to Dynamo Moscow. This season, the goalkeeper has participated in 16 matches for the club across all competitions, keeping clean sheets in five of those games.
