Olympique Lyonnais is reportedly considering internal disciplinary action against their coach, Paulo Fonseca. This comes after his behavior on the touchline towards referee Benoît Millot during their recent match against Stade Brestois.
Following a red card decision and a penalty review by VAR, Fonseca confronted Millot. While Fonseca has since apologized for his actions in the post-match press conference, the Ligue 1 disciplinary committee is scheduled to meet this week to decide on any further sanctions. There is a possibility Fonseca could face a lengthy touchline ban.
This situation arises after Olympique de Marseille president Pablo Longoria received a 15-match ban for his own outburst against AJ Auxerre, where he claimed the league was corrupt. Fonseca’s actions may be reviewed under league regulations concerning inappropriate behavior, specifically article eight regarding intimidation or threatening conduct.
