Mallorca defeats Espanyol 2-1 in La Liga match

Mallorca emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Espanyol in their home La Liga fixture on March 15, 2025. The match, part of the 28th round of the Spanish championship, saw a dramatic turn of events in the final minutes.

Espanyol took the lead early in the second half through an own goal by Mallorca striker Vedat Muriqi. However, Takuma Asano equalized for the hosts in the 65th minute to level the score.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until Muriqi redeemed himself in stoppage time. After missing a penalty in the 63rd minute, he made no mistake from the spot in the 97th minute to secure all three points for Mallorca.

This victory ends Mallorca’s streak of three consecutive draws. They now sit in seventh place in the La Liga table with 40 points. Espanyol remains in 15th position with 28 points.
