Man United Opens Discussions for £55m Tyler Dibling as Quenda Alternative
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has wasted no time strengthening his squad since taking charge four months ago. His first signing was £30m left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, addressing a problem position for the club.
While Dorgu has shown promise when available, United are now reportedly targeting another young talent. According to sources, the Red Devils have initiated talks to sign 19-year-old Southampton midfielder Tyler Dibling ahead of a potential summer move.
Dibling has been a standout performer for struggling Southampton this season, featuring in 25 Premier League matches. The versatile teenager can play multiple attacking midfield and wing-back roles, making him an appealing option for Amorim’s system.
However, Southampton have placed a £55m price tag on Dibling, meaning United would need to make a significant investment to secure his services. Despite the steep fee, Dibling could prove an excellent long-term addition as United look to rebuild under Amorim.
The interest in Dibling comes after United missed out on 17-year-old winger Geovany Quenda, who worked with Amorim at Sporting CP. Chelsea recently agreed a £42m deal for Quenda, ending United’s pursuit of the Portuguese prospect.
While losing out on Quenda was disappointing for United fans, Dibling’s statistics suggest he could be an equally exciting alternative. The Southampton youngster has matched or outperformed Quenda in several key areas this season, including successful dribbles, pass accuracy, and duels won.
At just 19, Dibling still has significant room for development. If he continues his current trajectory, the £55m fee could prove a bargain for Manchester United as they look to return to the Premier League’s elite under Amorim’s guidance.
