Manchester City Close to Signing RC Lens Defender Abdukodir Khusanov
RC Lens manager Will Still has all but confirmed the imminent transfer of 20-year-old center-back Abdukodir Khusanov to Manchester City. During a pre-match press conference before Lens’ away game against Le Havre, Still addressed the young Uzbek defender’s absence from training.
While initially attributing Khusanov’s absence to illness, Still candidly acknowledged the ongoing transfer negotiations: “Let’s be honest, we’re aware that discussions are taking place and things are progressing. There’s momentum behind this move. We’re not naive about the situation.”
Still added, “For now, he remains a Lens player. If anything changes, you’ll likely be among the first to know. Of course, in this age of social media, top journalists often have the inside scoop before anyone else.”
The manager concluded by stating that if Khusanov is available, he will be included in the squad for the Le Havre match.
Reports suggest that Khusanov’s transfer to Manchester City is in its final stages. The deal could potentially set a new record for RC Lens, with a reported fee of around €50 million including bonuses. The young defender is said to have already agreed to personal terms with the Premier League champions.
As Manchester City looks to bolster their defensive options, they are also reportedly pursuing Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush, with hopes of finalizing that deal in the coming week.
