According to recent reports, Pep Guardiola`s Manchester City has reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Juventus defender Nicolo Savona. This move comes as an alternative to their previous target, fellow Juventus and Italy full-back Andrea Cambiaso.
Earlier this year, there were rumors that City was prepared to make a significant investment to acquire Cambiaso, but the deal never materialized. While there`s still a possibility that City might revisit negotiations for Cambiaso in the summer, they have now turned their attention to other options, including Savona.
Footmercato reports that City has already reached a verbal agreement with Savona regarding personal terms, potentially setting the stage for a summer transfer. Tuttosport adds that Juventus would be open to selling the player.
City representatives are expected to continue discussions with Savona`s agent to finalize the agreement. However, the club is also considering other full-back options, including Newcastle United`s Tino Livramento and Flamengo`s Wesley Franca.
Savona has experienced a rapid rise in Juventus`s first team since making his senior debut in the 2024-25 Serie A season opener against Como. He has since made 36 appearances across all competitions, including 27 in Serie A and seven in the Champions League. His performances have also earned him a call-up to Luciano Spalletti`s Italy national team squad.
