Manchester United Defender Lindelöf Leaves Match Due to Son’s Accident
During Manchester United’s recent match against Lyon, defender Victor Lindelöf was unexpectedly substituted early in the game due to a family emergency. His wife, Maja, later revealed on social media that their three-year-old son had been involved in a serious accident at home.
According to Maja’s post, their young son had an accident while playing with his older sibling. The child fell into a glass staircase, resulting in a severe head injury that required immediate medical attention. The toddler underwent emergency plastic surgery to repair the wound on his forehead, which involved general anesthesia.
Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and the child is now on the path to recovery. While doctors have informed the family that their son will likely have a noticeable scar on his forehead, they expect him to make a full recovery otherwise.
Lindelöf wasn’t the only player affected by personal matters during the match. His teammate Noussair Mazraoui also had to leave the game early due to undisclosed personal reasons. Despite these unexpected departures, Manchester United managed to secure a victory against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final, winning 5-4 in extra time (7-6 on aggregate).
The Red Devils are now set to face Athletic Club in the semi-finals of the competition.
