Manchester United Eye Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha as Midfield Reinforcement
Manchester United are reportedly looking to bolster their midfield options in the upcoming transfer window. According to reports, the Red Devils have expressed interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha.
The 24-year-old German international has impressed for Dortmund this season despite the team’s struggles, featuring 27 times across all competitions and contributing 3 goals and 2 assists from a deep-lying midfield role. Nmecha’s performances have caught the eye of United’s scouting department.
United are said to have Nmecha on their shortlist of midfield targets, though no formal contact has been made with Dortmund yet. The Bundesliga club are believed to value Nmecha at around £42 million.
Interestingly, Nmecha previously spent time in Manchester City’s academy before moving to Germany. This connection could potentially aid negotiations, as United’s technical director Jason Wilcox is familiar with Nmecha from his time overseeing City’s youth setup.
If United were to sign Nmecha, they may view him as their own version of Jude Bellingham – another midfielder who developed at Dortmund before making a high-profile move to Real Madrid. While different players stylistically, both Nmecha and Bellingham are powerful, box-to-box midfielders with strong ball-carrying abilities.
Football scout Antonio Mango has described Nmecha as a “terrific talent” who could significantly improve United’s midfield. With the Red Devils looking to push on next season, Nmecha could prove to be a shrewd acquisition to strengthen their squad.
