Manchester United Make Inquiry About Dusan Vlahovic as Potential January Transfer Target
Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic before the January transfer window closes. The club have reportedly made an inquiry about the Serbian forward’s situation at Juventus, viewing him as a potential alternative to Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel.
Vlahovic has scored 13 goals in 28 appearances for Juventus this season despite limited opportunities under manager Thiago Motta. His goal-scoring prowess was on display when he netted in Juventus’ 2-0 Champions League victory over Manchester City.
While Vlahovic and Tel have different playing styles, with Vlahovic being more of a traditional center forward, United are in need of additional firepower up front. Statistics show Vlahovic averages 0.65 expected goals per 90 minutes over the past two seasons compared to 0.31 for Tel.
The Serbian international also brings teammates into play well, averaging 0.93 key passes per 90 minutes. This is slightly higher than Tel’s 0.9 key passes per game.
If United can complete a deal for Vlahovic, it could prove to be their most impactful January signing since bringing in Bruno Fernandes in 2020. Fernandes has gone on to become club captain and a key player, with 88 goals and 77 assists in 268 appearances.
While Tel now seems unlikely to join United this window, Vlahovic represents an exciting alternative who could provide the goal-scoring threat the team needs. His potential arrival at Old Trafford would be a major coup for the club as they look to strengthen their attacking options.
