Manchester United Open to Selling Rising Star as Real Madrid Circle

Manchester United appear willing to part ways with one of their promising young talents, as reports suggest the club may sell midfielder Kobbie Mainoo this summer. Real Madrid have expressed strong interest in acquiring the 18-year-old academy product.

According to sources in Spain, United have set an asking price of around £42 million for Mainoo, whose current contract runs until 2027. The Red Devils seem open to a sale in order to raise funds for new signings ahead of incoming manager Ruben Amorim’s first full season in charge.

Interestingly, it’s claimed that Amorim himself is not fully convinced about Mainoo’s suitability for his tactical system. The Portuguese coach reportedly has concerns about the player’s fitness levels and ability to meet the physical demands of his preferred style of play.

Mainoo has missed United’s last nine matches due to injury, which may have contributed to these doubts. The talented teenager had previously been linked with a move to Chelsea in January, but remained at Old Trafford.

While Real Madrid view Mainoo as a prime target to bolster their midfield next season, Chelsea and Inter Milan are also said to be monitoring the situation closely. A summer departure now seems increasingly likely for the United youngster.

The potential sale of Mainoo could help finance other transfers as United look to reshape their squad under new ownership and management. The club is reportedly targeting attacking reinforcements, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike mentioned as one possible option.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Mainoo’s future at Manchester United appears uncertain. The coming months will reveal whether the Red Devils cash in on their homegrown talent or opt to keep faith in his long-term potential.
