Manchester United Target “Absolute Jewel” Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich
As the January transfer window enters its final days, Manchester United are making moves to strengthen their squad. The club has already agreed a deal to sign left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, but they may not be done yet in the transfer market.
Reports suggest United are now turning their attention to the attacking third, with Bayern Munich’s 19-year-old forward Mathys Tel emerging as a key target. The Red Devils have reportedly held fresh talks with Tel’s representatives as they explore a potential loan move for the French youth international.
Tel has struggled for consistent playing time at Bayern this season, making just 14 appearances totaling 458 minutes. However, his productivity when given opportunities has been impressive – last season he contributed 16 goals and assists in just 1406 minutes of action.
The young forward could provide an upgrade on United’s current striker options. Rasmus Hojlund has managed just 7 goals in 29 appearances this term, with only 2 coming in 18 Premier League games. Tel’s underlying statistics from last season suggest he could offer more of a threat in the final third.
While Hojlund averaged 0.85 shots on target per 90 minutes last campaign, Tel managed 1.5. The Bayern man also created more chances, with 4.15 shot-creating actions per 90 compared to Hojlund’s 2.31.
A loan deal for Tel could give United a dynamic attacking option to help them finish the season strongly. The club will hope to beat competition from Tottenham to secure the services of a player described as an “absolute jewel” by talent scouts.
