Manchester United Target Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde in £33M Transfer Bid
According to recent reports, Manchester United are preparing a £33 million (€40 million) offer to sign promising left-back Alejandro Balde from Barcelona. The move comes as new manager Ruben Amorim looks to revamp the squad this summer and potentially replace Luke Shaw.
Shaw has struggled with injuries this season, making just 3 appearances for United. With his contract running until 2027, the club may look to cash in on the England international while bringing in fresh talent at left-back.
Balde, 21, has established himself as a key player for Barcelona under manager Hansi Flick. The La Masia academy product is considered one of the top young fullbacks in world football. His performances have caught the eye of United, who see him as an ideal fit for Amorim’s system.
The Portuguese manager reportedly views Balde as a significant upgrade over Shaw and Lisandro Martinez, who has also dealt with injury issues. Amorim aims to have two quality options for each position as he implements his preferred 3-at-the-back formation at Old Trafford.
While Barcelona would prefer to keep their homegrown talent, their ongoing financial difficulties mean a substantial offer from United could prove tempting. The Premier League giants hope a £33 million bid will be enough to convince the Catalan club to part ways with the promising defender.
Balde’s potential arrival, along with recent signing Patrick Dorgu, would give Amorim two exciting young options to choose from at left wing-back as he begins reshaping the United squad in his image this summer.
