Manchester United Target Not Interested in January Move
Manchester United have been dealt a setback in their pursuit of a potential striker signing. According to reports, £62 million-rated forward Victor Osimhen is not interested in joining the club during the January transfer window.
United’s new manager Ruben Amorim has endured a difficult start at Old Trafford, with the team suffering their fifth defeat in under a month against Wolves on Boxing Day. Currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table, reinforcements are urgently needed in the January window.
While United have been linked with several defensive targets, including Barcelona veterans Inigo Martinez and Dani Olmo, strengthening the attack appears to be a priority. However, their efforts to sign Osimhen look set to be frustrated.
Sources indicate the Nigerian striker is fully focused on his loan spell at Galatasaray and does not intend to move in January. While Osimhen has a £62 million release clause allowing him to join clubs outside Italy, he reportedly prefers to make a decision on his future at the end of the season.
This represents a blow for United and Amorim, who are seeking firepower up front. With Marcus Rashford potentially departing and summer signing Rasmus Hojlund still adapting, Osimhen could have provided a proven goalscoring option.
United will hope the 25-year-old, who has scored 76 goals in 133 games for Napoli, views them as an attractive destination in the summer. For now though, Amorim will have to look elsewhere to bolster his attacking options in January as he aims to turn around the club’s fortunes.
