Manchester United Targets Italian Striker Lorenzo Lucca in £25m Summer Move

Manchester United is reportedly planning a £25 million bid for Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca this summer. The 24-year-old Italian has impressed in Serie A this season, scoring 12 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions.

New manager Ruben Amorim is looking to strengthen United’s attack after a disappointing Premier League campaign that sees them currently sitting in 13th place. The club’s current strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled to make an impact, scoring just 14 goals between them in 85 matches this season.

Lucca is seen as a potential upgrade on United’s current options. The 6’7″ forward has outscored both Hojlund and Zirkzee in their respective leagues this season. He also registers more shots on target per 90 minutes and has a higher success rate for take-ons and aerial duels.

Described as “clinical” by talent scouts, Lucca could provide the reliable goalscorer United have been lacking. At 24, he also has room for further development. While Nottingham Forest are also interested, United have reportedly made Lucca their top attacking target for the summer transfer window.

A £25 million fee could prove a bargain in today’s market for a young striker with Lucca’s potential. His playing style appears well-suited for the Premier League. United may look to offload Hojlund and Zirkzee to make room for Lucca’s arrival, though they would likely have to accept a significant loss on the £108 million spent on that pair.

With new ownership looking to make an impact, signing Lucca could signal the start of a new era in United’s attack as they aim to climb back up the Premier League table next season.
