Mancini Reflects on Sampdoria Visit, Career Prospects, and Italy Triumph
Roberto Mancini, the former Italy and Saudi Arabia head coach, has addressed speculation surrounding his recent visit to Sampdoria’s training ground and discussed his future plans in football management.
Mancini, currently without a team after parting ways with the Saudi Arabian national side, clarified that he holds no official position at Sampdoria. He explained his visit as a gesture of support for the club during challenging times, given his strong emotional connection to Sampdoria, where he spent 15 years as a player.
“I have no formal role with Sampdoria,” Mancini stated. “The club holds a special place in my heart, so I came to offer support during their difficult period. I’m on good terms with the President, and I’m happy to provide advice if needed.”
Looking Ahead: Mancini’s Future in Football
Addressing rumors linking him to various coaching positions, including a potential role at Roma, Mancini responded with humor: “Every day, there’s a new rumor about which bench I’ll be sitting on next. It’s almost like politics.”
He hinted at the possibility of taking charge of a major European club in the future, saying, “There are many prestigious teams in Europe. We’ll see what happens.”
Reflecting on Italy’s EURO 2020 Triumph
Mancini fondly recalled his time as Italy’s head coach, particularly the victory at EURO 2020. “It was the best experience of my career,” he reminisced. “Winning with the national team is incomparable to any other achievement.”
When asked about the possibility of returning to the Italy job in the future, Mancini left the door open: “You never know what might happen. It was such a special experience.”
Mancini also expressed confidence in the current Italian national team, many of whom made their debuts under his management. “I believe they have a very strong squad, and I’m sure they will perform well,” he concluded.
