Giancarlo Marocchi has commented on Thiago Motta’s performance as Juventus coach, following their clear defeat to Atalanta at the Stadium. Here are his remarks from Sky Calcio Club.
Lack of Identity
“The problem is that we are in March, and we still don’t know how to evaluate Juventus. There isn’t a single player who has consistently performed well, and there are no certainties upon which to build for next year. Thiago has stubbornly insisted on doing things his way.”
Doing Things Thiago Motta’s Way
“Doing things Thiago’s way means constantly making changes, dismantling hierarchies, which is absolutely the worst thing to do in a football team. When you say everyone is equal, it’s not true. When you arrive at Juventus, one of the first things you do is diminish the value of the captain’s armband. You devalue Danilo by comparing him to Savona. These are two massive errors. It’s a terrible start. Afterward, it continued in the same vein, with uncertainty about whether Yildiz should play on the right, left, or in the center. He is a number 10, not McKennie.”
