Inter director Beppe Marotta has clarified Simone Inzaghi’s decision to bench key players for the Champions League match against Feyenoord. He highlighted that facing Feyenoord is a serious challenge and emphasized the team’s focus on the Champions League despite the approaching Atalanta game in Serie A.
Inter holds a 2-0 lead over Feyenoord from the first leg, allowing them some leeway in the return fixture to secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

Marotta on Inter Changes, Feyenoord, Atalanta and Nico Paz
Tonight’s Inter lineup will not include Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella, and Alessandro Bastoni.
Marotta, in a pre-match interview, explained that this Champions League tie is against a formidable opponent. He stated that the rotations are not due to underestimating Feyenoord or prioritizing the Atalanta match. Instead, it’s about managing player fatigue as Bastoni, Barella, and Lautaro have played extensively recently. The club aims for consistency and a place among Europe’s top eight.
He further commented on the team’s resilience and focus, warning against complacency despite the first-leg result. He stressed the need for respect and confidence to advance in the Champions League.

Regarding potential signings, Marotta addressed rumors about Nico Paz from Como. He acknowledged Paz’s talent but pointed out the complexity of the transfer, mentioning Real Madrid’s buy-back option. He stated that transfer discussions are not a priority during this crucial phase of the season.

Lastly, Marotta briefly mentioned Feyenoord coach Van Persie, recalling past connections with Juventus but noting they pursued different paths.
