Paris Saint-Germain achieved a remarkable feat by defeating Liverpool at Anfield to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals.
PSG’s qualification came via a penalty shootout. Ousmane Dembélé’s first-half goal leveled the aggregate score, leading to the dramatic penalty decider. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma emerged as the hero, saving penalties from Darwin Nuñez and Curtis Jones to secure PSG’s victory.
Despite the triumph, PSG faces a setback as Marquinhos will be unavailable for the quarter-final. Although PSG played cleanly in the first half, Marquinhos committed a foul early in the second half on Luis Díaz. This foul results in a suspension, meaning he will miss the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
In the quarter-finals, PSG is set to play against either Aston Villa or Club Brugge. Aston Villa currently holds a 3-1 lead in their tie going into the second leg at Villa Park.
