Marseille Close to Signing Promising Salzburg Defender Amar Dedic
Olympique de Marseille is on the verge of securing the services of Red Bull Salzburg’s talented full-back Amar Dedic. The 22-year-old Bosnian international is scheduled to arrive in Marseille for a medical examination, marking a significant addition to the French club’s defensive lineup.
Dedic’s impending transfer will make him Marseille’s third acquisition of the winter transfer window, following the arrivals of center-back Luiz Felipe and winger Amine Gouiri. The deal structure involves an initial loan move with a modest €1.5 million fee, accompanied by a €10 million option for a permanent transfer that could keep Dedic at the club until 2029.
Marseille’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements stems from their need to bolster options for manager Roberto De Zerbi, especially given that right-back Amir Murillo has been predominantly utilized as a center-back. Dedic’s versatility, allowing him to operate effectively on both flanks, makes him an attractive prospect for the French side.
The young defender has impressed this season, making 25 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg and contributing six assists. His ability to impact both defensively and offensively aligns well with Marseille’s tactical requirements.
It’s worth noting that Marseille had also expressed interest in Chelsea’s Renato Veiga, who ultimately joined Juventus on loan. The club has also made inquiries about Chelsea left-back Aaron Anselmino, indicating their commitment to strengthening their defensive options.
This strategic move by Marseille demonstrates their ambition to reinforce their squad and compete at the highest level in both domestic and European competitions.
