Marseille Manager Confirms Continued Training in Rome

Olympique de Marseille’s head coach Roberto De Zerbi has announced that the team will spend another week training in Rome before their important match against Lille. This decision comes as part of their preparation for the upcoming UEFA Champions League qualifier.

De Zerbi stated, “We’re returning to Rome on Tuesday. Our focus is on preparing for the Lille match as if it were a final. We’re aiming for victory, not just calculations.” He emphasized the importance of this match against one of Ligue 1’s top teams in a high-pressure environment.

The Italian manager defended his unconventional decision to train away from Marseille, explaining that it was due to a lack of suitable facilities in nearby French locations. He stressed the need for concentration and dismissed criticisms about his methods.

De Zerbi also highlighted the significance of qualifying for the Champions League, noting Marseille’s infrequent appearances in the tournament over the past decade. He reiterated his focus on the upcoming matches, stating, “There’s no hidden agenda or punishment. It’s all about maintaining focus on our goals.”

This continued training in Rome underscores Marseille’s determination to secure a Champions League spot and their commitment to innovative preparation methods under De Zerbi’s leadership.
