Marseille Plans Italian Training Camps to Enhance Team Performance
Following Olympique de Marseille’s impressive 5-1 victory over Montpellier, head coach Roberto De Zerbi confirmed plans for the team to attend training camps in Italy in the coming weeks. This decision aims to strengthen the squad’s cohesion and improve their chances of securing a top-three finish in Ligue 1.
De Zerbi explained that the camps are not punitive measures, but rather an opportunity for the team to reconnect and prepare more effectively for upcoming challenges. The Italian coach emphasized that this initiative, agreed upon with club management and players, could significantly impact the athletes’ careers.
Unable to find a suitable location in southeastern France, the club has opted for the Rome area to host these camps. The current plan involves a series of short training sessions lasting 3-5 days before each match, designed to optimize team performance and unity.
This strategic move comes as Marseille reclaimed second place in the league, bouncing back from a recent defeat to Monaco. The club’s primary goal remains qualification for the Champions League, and these Italian training camps are seen as a crucial step towards achieving that objective.
