Paris FC, competing in Ligue 2, has officially confirmed the acquisition of Mathieu Cafaro, a 27-year-old winger, from AS Saint-Étienne.
The move was finalized in the dying moments of the transfer window. Reports from journalist Marc Mechenoua of Le Parisien indicate that Paris FC submitted the necessary paperwork to validate Cafaro’s arrival just two minutes before the transfer window closed in France.
Paris FC is actively reinforcing their squad during this winter transfer period, aiming to secure promotion to Ligue 1. They are currently positioned second in the league standings, a spot that guarantees automatic promotion to the top tier of French football.
Cafaro brings valuable experience in Ligue 2, having played a role in Saint-Étienne’s promotion to Ligue 1 last season through the playoff system. However, with increased competition for the right-wing position at Saint-Étienne, Cafaro’s opportunities appeared to be diminishing.
Saint-Étienne is presently engaged in a struggle to remain in Ligue 1 and currently occupies the relegation playoff position.
