Paris Saint-Germain faces a challenging task as they travel to Anfield needing to overcome a one-goal deficit against Liverpool. Despite dominating the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 match at home, PSG couldn’t convert their dominance into goals.
Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Alisson, delivered an outstanding performance, making nine crucial saves and later described it as potentially his best game ever. Harvey Elliott then scored a late goal against the run of play, giving the Premier League leaders a crucial advantage for the return leg at Anfield.
However, Maxwell, a former PSG defender, believes in his old team’s chances to not only qualify but also to win the entire Champions League competition. He stated, “Of course, PSG can qualify. I see no reason why they can’t advance.”
He further added, “If they can beat Liverpool, they have the potential to beat any team and therefore are capable of winning the Champions League. Everything is still possible.”
Last season, PSG reached the Champions League semi-finals but were defeated by Borussia Dortmund. After a shaky start to this Champions League campaign, Luis Enrique’s team had won their previous four matches, scoring an impressive 18 goals, before losing to Liverpool. PSG also remains undefeated in domestic competitions this season.
