Mbappe Ruled Out of Copa del Rey Clash with Leganes
Real Madrid’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that star striker Kylian Mbappe will not be available for the Copa del Rey quarter-final match against Leganes. The 26-year-old French international is sidelined due to a calf muscle injury sustained during a La Liga fixture.
Mbappe picked up the injury in Real Madrid’s recent La Liga match against Espanyol, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for Los Blancos. The incident occurred following a robust challenge from Espanyol defender Carlos Romero during the game on February 2nd.
Ancelotti addressed the media, stating, “We gave Mbappe an extra day to recover yesterday. Today, he trained normally, but he has a hematoma, so he won’t be available for tomorrow’s match.” The Italian tactician’s comments came during a pre-match press conference.
The Copa del Rey quarter-final between Real Madrid and Leganes is scheduled for February 5th, with kick-off set for 8:00 PM CET (Central European Time).
