Milan Come From Behind to Draw 2-2 With Fiorentina
AC Milan staged a spirited comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against Fiorentina in an entertaining Serie A encounter at the San Siro on Saturday. The Rossoneri overcame a disastrous start that saw them fall behind by two goals inside the opening 10 minutes.
Fiorentina stunned the home crowd by taking an early lead in the 7th minute through an own goal by Milan defender Malick Thiaw. The visitors doubled their advantage just three minutes later when Moise Kean slotted home from close range.
Milan gradually worked their way back into the match and halved the deficit in the 23rd minute. Tammy Abraham finished off a well-worked move involving Christian Pulisic to give the hosts hope of a comeback.
The Rossoneri pushed hard for an equalizer and were rewarded in the 64th minute when former Fiorentina striker Luka Jovic swept home from Fikayo Tomori’s through ball. Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find a winner in an end-to-end finale.
The result leaves Milan in 9th place, still four points behind Fiorentina in the race for European qualification spots. While the point does little for either team’s ambitions, both managers will likely be satisfied to avoid defeat in what was an evenly-matched and thrilling contest.
