Milan Secures Deal for Feyenoord Striker Gimenez
AC Milan has reportedly finalized an agreement to sign Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord. The Mexican striker is expected to travel to Italy on Saturday to undergo a medical examination and sign his contract with the Rossoneri.
Milan has been in intense negotiations in recent days to bring the 23-year-old to San Siro. Talks accelerated after the club opened discussions to sell Alvaro Morata to Galatasaray.
On Friday, Milan was said to be close to reaching a deal with Feyenoord after increasing their offer to €32 million. Some final details needed to be resolved before completing the transfer.
However, reports on Saturday morning indicated that Feyenoord has given approval for Gimenez’s departure. The striker is now set to make the trip to Italy later today to complete the final steps before being officially announced as Milan’s newest signing.
Interestingly, Milan was drawn against Feyenoord in the Champions League knockout phase play-offs. This means Gimenez could face his former club immediately as he aims to help the Rossoneri secure qualification for the last 16 of the competition.
