Mkhitaryan: Inter Faced Challenges Under Inzaghi, Sees Promise with Chivu

In a recent interview, Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan shared his thoughts on the club`s transition from former manager Simone Inzaghi to new head coach Cristian Chivu. The Armenian international highlighted the positive changes he`s observed under Chivu`s leadership while acknowledging some issues the team faced during Inzaghi`s tenure.

Mkhitaryan expressed admiration for Chivu`s coaching style, noting, “Although we`ve only been working together for a month, I`m impressed by Chivu`s meticulous attention to detail. This quality is characteristic of great coaches. Our training sessions are not only intense but also enjoyable, providing extra motivation and maintaining our focus.”

The midfielder emphasized Chivu`s role in helping the team move past last season`s disappointments: “Chivu has done an excellent job in assisting us to mentally turn the page after last season. While we can`t alter the past, we have the power to shape our future.”

Reflecting on the previous season under Inzaghi, Mkhitaryan admitted to an “obvious problem” where the team sometimes lost points due to overconfidence. “There were times when we subconsciously believed we would win regardless, which led to dropped points. We`re all working with the coach to avoid repeating this mistake,” he explained.

Despite these challenges, Mkhitaryan maintains a positive outlook on Inter`s potential: “I still believe that if we train diligently and make sacrifices, anything is possible for Inter. This isn`t arrogance, but rather a strong desire to succeed.”

Looking to the future, Mkhitaryan praised young teammate Petar Sucic, describing him as a promising modern midfielder with excellent technical skills and physical strength. “At just 21, he still has room for tactical growth, but his seriousness and eagerness to learn, even languages, indicate a bright future ahead,” Mkhitaryan added.

As Inter Milan continues its Serie A campaign with three consecutive victories and 12 points from the opening six rounds, the team appears to be adapting well to Chivu`s leadership, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.
